Saturday notes from NFL Combine

Workouts started in Indianapolis, and several Spartans have been drawing rave reviews. Here is a collection of stuff regarding the six MSU players at the Combine. (Full schedule here).

--According to the Freep's Dave Birkett, Edwin Baker did 20 reps on the bench press and measured in a 5-foot-8, 2004 pounds.

Birkett also has a story on Cousins proving he can be an NFL quarterback.

Also from the Freep, a breakdown of all local products (from Michigan high schools or colleges) who are at the Combine or could get drafted.

--National Football Post's Dion Caputi said Jerel Worthy measured in at 6-foot-2, 308 pounds and said he would be an ideal 3-technique defensive tackle in a 4-3 defense.

--Tyler Dunne of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is hearing good things about Worthy, tweeting "Several offensive line this week raving about Michigan State's Jerel Worthy as toughest DT they faced."

--MSU's official site has a boatload of stuff.

Here is a Q&A with former Colts president and current NFL Radio analyst Bill Polian, who has a lot of good things to say about the MSU program. This was the most notable quote to me: "Mark (Dantonio) runs a top-notch program. When a team drafts a player from Michigan State - as we did here in Indianapolis with Chris Rucker - it knows from the minute he walks in the door, he's ready to be a professional."

MSU football's Twitter page has some quotes from ESPN's Todd McShay. Notably, McShay said of Worthy: "He flashes on tape as much as anyone I’ve watched on the defensive line."

--Pro Football Weekly has a story on Cousins (from yesterday) and how his demeanor is a big plus.

(NOTE: I know this is mostly an unorganized link dump. I've been traveling this weekend and actually forgot my computer, so I'm just throwing this together for now on another computer. I'll have a better recap and more context tomorrow.)
