Notes from third day of Senior Bowl practice

Kirk Cousins' stock seems to be going higher with each practice for the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala. He's moving into the fight for third quarterback taken in the draft (behind Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III). I don't think he'll be taken that high, but it looks like lots of teams are coming away impressed with Cousins.

After sitting out yesterday due to injury, Brian Linthicum returned Wednesday and reportedly looked very agile for his size. Since Linthicum wasn't invited to the Combine, this is his best chance to improve his stock before MSU Pro Day. I think he's going to be a steal in this draft.

Trenton Robinson also is starting to get noticed. College Football News projects Cousins and Robinson to be third round picks and Linthicum to be a fifth round pick. That's a lot higher than I expected for Robinson.

Here are the recaps of Day 1 and Day 2 and here is a video of Cousins discussing the Senior Bowl to MSU.

Wesley Bunting of National Football Post: "#MichiganState FS Trenton Robinson displays quick, balanced feet, can close wo much wasted motion, tigher to turn and run #seniorbowl"

Rick Pizzo of BTN: "#SeniorBowl B. Linthicum back after missing Tuesday and looks crazy quick for a guy who measured almost 6'4", 250."

More Pizzo: "#SeniorBowl Kirk Cousins and Kellen Moore alternating snaps. The difference in velocity and arm strength is shocking."

More Pizzo: "#SeniorBowl Kirk Cousins has me convinced that he will be a productive NFL starting QB. He's making every throw look easy."

More Pizzo: "And we are hitting for real at #SeniorBowl as Trenton Robinson makes a nice read to stop a cut back run"

Dion Caputi of National Football Post: ""@bmoney728: where do you see cousins being drafted?" -- Battling Weeden for 4th QB in draft; as of now, rd 2. Cleveland could be a fit."

More Caputi: "#MichiganSt S Trenton Robinson has good coverage technique. Nice and compact in his movement. Also locates the football nicely."

More Caputi: "#MichiganSt QB Kirk Cousins exhibits some comfort in putting some heat on his seam-throws."

More Caputi: "#MichiganSt QB Kirk Cousins throws with noticeably more zip on his passes than Russell Wilson & Kellen Moore; his arm is a little underrated"

Beth Long of Fox Sports: "Looking the best in drills for WR, easily #NCSU T.J. Graham and #ArizonaState Gerell Robinson.. #MSU TE Brian Linthicum most mobile early on"

More Long: "TE thoughts: #Mizzou Egnew is the most physical, #MSU Linthicum needs to set his blocks better, and #UMass Igwenagu is quickest.#SeniorBowl"

Tony Pauline of Sports Illustrated: "TE Brian Linthicum of Michigan State sat on the sidelines yesterday, but looks terrific this morning. He moves incredibly well for a big man and is smooth in and out of his routes."

Scott Wright of "It seems as though Kansas City Chiefs Quarterbacks Coach Jim Zorn may be a fan of Michigan St. QB Kirk Cousins, pointing out that the Spartan puts nice touch on his passes."

Joe Fortenbaugh of National Football Post: 7 on 7: Kirk Cousins goes 5 for 6 with only miss coming on a deep 9. Some check downs, some nice intermediate completions. #SeniorBowl"

Tom Pelissero of ESPN Twin Cities: "Michigan State safety Trenton Robinson performing well here. Not a big guy but good balance, instincts, doesn't take many false steps."

A reminder, the Senior Bowl will be broadcast on at 4 p.m. Saturday on NFL Network. Here is a schedule of the NFL Network's Senior Bowl programming this week.
